We’re looking for an experienced Lead Hardware Engineer to drive the creation of our next-generation products. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with external partners for all stages of hardware development, from initial design and engineering to final manufacturing. You will be instrumental in overseeing the hardware aspects of our plugin energy storage and virtual energy metering solutions, working closely with our product management, software engineering, and industrial design teams. Your contributions will be key to architecting systems that will make solar energy accessible to everyone.

How you will contribute

Operatives HR: 

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and champion the short- and long-term hardware roadmap, ensuring alignment with company goals, market opportunities and technological advances.

  • End-to-End Ownership: Take full responsibility for the entire hardware lifecycle, from initial concept and rigorous R&D through successful mass production and beyond.

  • Technical Excellence: Lead the design, prototyping, and thorough validation of cutting-edge hardware products, consistently delivering on time and within budget.

  • Operational Efficiency: Implement scalable and robust processes, coupled with stringent quality control systems, across hardware production, service operations, and R&D activities.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Negotiate favorable contracts and proactively manage the performance of key partners to ensure quality and efficiency.

  • Customer-Centric Support: Provide advanced diagnostics and expert troubleshooting support to after sales and service teams, ensuring seamless customer experiences.

What makes you a great fit

  • Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Higher Technical School (HTL) or a closely related discipline.
  • Bring a minimum of 4–6 years of hands-on experience in hardware design, prototyping, validation, and/or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate a strong technical foundation in areas such as power electronics, PCB design, embedded systems, and mechanical integration.
  • Have a proven track record of successfully managing external partners for design, engineering, and manufacturing, with specific experience in Asia (e.g., China) being highly valued.
  • Exhibit comfort and proficiency in navigating cross-cultural collaborations and managing global supply chain complexities across different time zones.
  • Embrace an independent and agile work style, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate willingness to undertake international travel, particularly to Asia, as required.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in German and/or Mandarin is a significant advantage.

The position is available immediately. Monthly we offer € 4.500,00 gross (on a full-time basis, 38,5h). Depending on qualifications, this salary is negotiable
