With the EET Virtual Meter, we are completely redefining electricity measurement in the home. Our technology replaces conventional, permanently installed electricity meters for home energy management solutions in a simple and flexible way.

The Virtual Meter can be integrated directly into any home energy device and connects via a standard socket or any other point in the home’s electrical network – without any intervention in the meter cabinet.

Despite its simplicity, the Virtual Meter accurately measures a household’s total electricity consumption in real time. This eliminates the need for expensive additional hardware, significantly reduces complexity for installers and provides users with all relevant energy data immediately.

Our unique technology makes intelligent energy management scalable, cost-efficient and usable for a wide range of applications for the first time – from storage systems and e-charging stations to modern home energy platforms. The Virtual Meter is thus a central component for the next generation of decentralised energy products.

With the further development of SolMate, we are taking the next logical step towards intelligent energy management. SolMate 3 is the new generation of our proven plug-and-play storage system and brings with it a decisive technological innovation:

While the original SolMate was able to measure single-phase electricity consumption, SolMate 3 is the first to detect consumption on all three phases of a household’s electricity supply.

SolMate 3 thus enables a much more accurate recording of actual energy requirements and creates the basis for even more efficient self-consumption optimisation – especially in households with multiple consumers, heat pumps or e-mobility. Despite its expanded functionality, SolMate 3 remains true to our philosophy: simple, flexible and without complicated installation.

With SolMate 3, we are taking another big step towards making even more complex household structures accessible to the energy transition – smart, affordable and user-friendly.

We now have around 80 employees supporting us in our mission and, in addition to Germany, France and Italy, we are now also targeting Spain and Portugal as markets in order to bring our own solar energy into the home.

Solar pioneer Robert Palfrader is enthusiastic about SolMate and the idea of generating electricity at home on the balcony or in the garden. He uses his fame and reach to show in a commercial how easy it is to produce your own solar power with SolMate and make an important contribution to the environment. Between March and April 2020 alone, we sold 300 units of our mini power plant and were completely sold out. The fact that demand exploded during the widespread lockdown was due to the fact that people realized that not everything is as self-evident as people think. The topic of “independent electricity production” was thus given increased importance.

Energie Steiermark and Energie Graz have already supported our development through an extensive field test. Since 2019, the two energy companies have been working with us at EET to market our micro power plant.

In 2017, we presented SolMate on Puls4 in the 6th season of “2 Minuten 2 Millionen”.

In order to realize the series production of our solar power plant for the balcony, we ran a crowdfunding campaign on the kickstarter.com platform. Pre-orders for SolMate could be placed for as little as 2,100 euros. The target of 50,000 euros for the campaign was reached within just 300 minutes, underlining the enormous enthusiasm and personal interest of people in sustainable energy generation and climate protection. This success was crucial in driving forward the series production of “SolMate” and making an important contribution to the energy transition.

We have been in intensive talks with Mr. Fronius and Mr. Koncar since September 2017! Both are very interested in SolMate and have agreed to support the project! With these gentlemen, the term “smart money” is more than applicable: scaling, production, quality assurance, certification are just some of the topics where we will have professional support in the future… We are happy to have such experienced investors on board!

To fulfill our mission, we have designed and developed SolMate, a plug & play storage system “to go” or rather “to plug”. The first electricity storage system with a lightweight solar panel for the balcony that you can plug into the socket yourself! SolMate combines design, independence and innovation and at the same time offers balcony privacy with functionality. By using a space-saving solar panel in combination with a compact, small power storage unit, there is enough space for our solar system even on smaller city balconies. The exciting thing is that the SolMate electricity storage unit, which is the size of a beer crate, detects how much electricity is being used in real time and feeds it directly back into the socket. A revolutionary system that is already making the first energy providers sit up and take notice.

As an ambitious and dynamic start-up, we have experienced considerable growth. While the idea originated from three minds, our team now includes almost 80 employees from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds and educational backgrounds. Many of us are still students and we actively support them on their educational journey. At EET, we combine our passion and expertise to make renewable energy accessible to everyone and thus shape a more sustainable energy future.
